Casaroro Falls
Description
A roughly 100-foot single-drop waterfall at the foot of Cuernos de Negros (Mount Talinis), in Valencia municipality — about 9-13km and a 20-30 minute drive from Dumaguete City, making it the most-visited day trip from the city. Getting there: jeepney from the Dumaguete public market to Valencia town (~₱15-24), then habal-habal (motorbike taxi) to the trailhead (~₱200 round trip), or rent a scooter/motorbike in Dumaguete and ride the whole way yourself (~₱400/day rental). From the trailhead it’s a hike down roughly 300-500 concrete steps and a short river-adjacent path to reach the falls and its cold natural pool — steps can be slippery since sunlight barely reaches through the canopy. No facilities at the falls itself, so bring water, snacks, and proper footwear. Often paired in a single day trip with the nearby Twin Lakes (charter the same habal-habal for both) or Pulangbato Falls.
