Danjugan Island Day Trip: What It Is & How to Visit

Description

A 43-hectare protected marine sanctuary technically within Cauayan municipality, but reached almost exclusively via Sipalay’s boat station (20-30 minutes away) rather than through Cauayan itself — worth knowing so you don’t try to approach it from the wrong direction. Managed by the Philippine Reef and Rainforest Conservation Foundation (PRRFCFI), it protects 5 lagoons, 4 white-sand beach strips, and a rich reef ecosystem — snorkeling gear is enough to see the underwater life, no scuba certification required.

HOW TO GET THERE: Base yourself in Sipalay and book the day trip through a local operator or your resort — a full-day tour (boat transfers, food, snorkel gear included) runs around ₱1,950/person.

BEST TIME: Any day works; book slightly ahead during peak weekends since group sizes and boat availability are limited on a small protected island.
