Cauayan, Negros Occidental: Danjugan Island’s Home Municipality

Description

Best known as the technical home of Danjugan Island’s marine sanctuary, even though most visitors actually approach it through Sipalay rather than Cauayan town itself. Beyond Danjugan, Cauayan has its own coastal curve and villages, forest edges and ridgelines, and inland rural plains — a genuine, lower-profile alternative to Sipalay’s more developed tourist strip if you want the same coastal-to-upland character with far fewer visitors.

HOW TO GET THERE: On the same coastal bus corridor as Sipalay and Hinoba-an; Danjugan Island trips are typically booked and departed from Sipalay regardless of the island’s actual municipal boundary.

BEST TIME: Same general window as Sipalay — dry season (December-May) for the most reliable boat conditions to Danjugan.
