Sibulan Native Fruit Belt
Description
Duhat, santol, and mango backyard trees forming a local fruit belt. In Sibulan, the town immediately north of Dumaguete, foothills running down to the strait. Backyard and smallholder fruit rather than commercial orchards — mango, guava, santol, duhat, rambutan, calamansi depending on the month. What’s piled at roadside stalls at any given time is what’s actually ripe nearby, which is the plainest way to read the season.
Tips
Don"t assume Dumaguete handles all arrivals — the airport and the Cebu ferry port are both here, so build the transfer into your timing. Best treated as part of an arrival or departure day rather than a separate trip.
Stops
Dumaguete–Valencia Food Belt
How to get there
10-15 minutes by tricycle from central Dumaguete, or your first stop if arriving by air or by ferry from Cebu.
Best Times
Morning for port and fishing activity; otherwise no strong time-of-day pull.
