Description

Coconut groves in coastal Sipalay. In Sipalay, the southwest beach and dive town, where the catch goes straight to roadside grills. Bananas here are several distinct varieties — saba for cooking into banana cue, turon and ginanggang; lakatan and latundan for eating fresh. Coconut groves feed three chains at once: copra, sap for tuba and vinegar, and fresh buko. Roadside stalls beside the groves are the cheapest place to buy either.

Tips
Grills are lit late afternoon and evening; going at midday misses the point entirely. It"s a 4-5 hour drive from Bacolod, so plan an overnight rather than a day trip.
