Ilog Rice & Corn Belt
Description
Rice and corn farms supplying Kabankalan and Ilog. In Ilog, a river town on the southwest coast, named for the river itself. Farming outside the sugar estates is smallholder and mixed — vegetables, root crops, fruit and cacao often on the same land. Upland farms supply the lowland city markets, which is why highland towns matter far beyond their size. Roadside stalls near the farms sell at the lowest prices you’ll find.
Tips
The river organises everything here — fishing, farming and settlement all follow it inland. Follow the river road rather than staying on the highway if you want to see it.
