Cauayan Coastal Fishing Villages
Cauayan Coastal Fishing Villages

Description

Cluster of fishing villages along Cauayan coastline. In Cauayan, a southwest coastal town north of Sipalay. Landings run on the boats, not on shop hours — the catch comes ashore early and is gone to the markets by mid-morning. Buying at the landing means lower prices and whatever came in that day rather than a choice. Worth timing a visit at first light if you want to see how the day’s supply actually starts.

Tips
Danjugan Island is the reason most people come, and trips need arranging in advance rather than turning up. Punta Bulata is the base for it. Fish drying sheds are along the shore road and visible without stopping.
Stops
Western Coastal Food Chain
How to get there
Southwest coastal highway, about 4 hours from Bacolod; Punta Bulata is signposted off the main road.
Best Times
Early morning for the fishing villages and fish drying; daytime for Danjugan trips.
