Description

Riverbank used for washing and daily gathering through the morning. In Tayasan. Rivers still function as shared infrastructure across rural Negros — washing, bathing, gathering, water collection, and children swimming, all happening in the same stretch through the morning. WHAT TO DO: it’s daily domestic life rather than a spectacle. Pass through respectfully; asking before photographing matters here more than almost anywhere else on this map. ACTIVITIES: upstream from the domestic stretches, many of these rivers are swimmable and used for exactly that. SAFETY: flash flooding is the real risk on Negros rivers — water levels rise fast after upland rain even when it’s dry where you’re standing. Don’t camp on riverbanks and get out if the water starts to colour.
