A tongue-shaped white sandbar formed from coral rubble, sitting at the centre of the 32,000-hectare Sagay Marine Reserve — the largest marine reserve in the Philippines, established in 1999 to protect Carbin and the neighbouring Maca reefs. The sandbar itself is around 200 metres long and shifts shape with the tide; there’s a watchtower and a row of cottages but no food stalls, so visitors bring their own supplies. Swimming, snorkeling, and giant clam viewing are the main draws, with strict no-plastic rules to protect the reserve.
