Capitol Park and Lagoon

Description

Public park — the city’s most iconic park, fronting the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol building (the seat of the provincial governor). Centers on a man-made lagoon stocked with tilapia that visitors are welcome to feed, with a carabao-and-woman statue at one end. Birthplace of the Panaad sa Negros Festival (held here 1993-1996 before moving to its permanent home at Panaad Park). Popular for morning jogging, aerobics, Zumba, arnis practice, and outdoor concerts at its open-air auditorium (‘Concert at the Park’). Also a major gathering site during the MassKara Festival. On Magsaysay Avenue / Lacson Extension.
