Description

Daily movement around ancestral homes. In Silay. In Silay and the older heritage streets, daily life still happens around ancestral houses that are lived in rather than only museums — school runs, tricycles, and evening gatherings taking place against a backdrop of century-old mansions. WHAT TO DO: walk the heritage streets rather than only visiting the two or three houses that operate as museums; the point is the whole streetscape. ACTIVITIES: pair with the house museums (most keep short hours and close Mondays) and El Ideal Bakery. SAFETY: compact, walkable, well-used and safe. Watch traffic on narrow streets with no footpaths.
