Valencia Market Area

Description

Town-centre market area with upland vegetables, fruit, and local daily food trade from Valencia farms. In Valencia, the upland town above Dumaguete, cooler and wetter, feeding the city’s markets. Public markets here run hardest before 8am, when the night’s catch is in and upland produce has just come down; by late morning it’s mostly dry goods and leftovers. Prices are negotiable in the wet and dry sections. Worth a stop for muscovado, tablea and native sweets at market rather than shop prices — bring small notes and your own bag.

Tips
Fees at the falls change often and are quoted inconsistently online — check at the Valencia tourism office before setting out rather than trusting a published figure. Habal-habal drivers will wait for you at the falls; agree the return before you get off. Bring footwear you don"t mind soaking for Casaroro.
