Victorias Coastal Fishing Area
Description
Small-scale fishing along the Victorias shoreline. In Victorias, a northern mill town whose rhythm is set by Victorias Milling Company. Landings run on the boats, not on shop hours — the catch comes ashore early and is gone to the markets by mid-morning. Buying at the landing means lower prices and whatever came in that day rather than a choice. Worth timing a visit at first light if you want to see how the day’s supply actually starts.
Tips
The mill isn"t a visitor attraction; the interest is in reading the landscape it organises. The chapel with the Angry Christ mural is the actual stop. Cane trucks make the roads slow during milling season.
Stops
Northern Sugar & Seafood Corridor
How to get there
On the main highway route through this part of the island; Ceres buses and jeepneys serving the corridor pass through.
Best Times
Early morning — markets, landings and roadside stalls all run hardest before 8am.
