Victorias Coastal Fishing Rhythm
Description
Fishing departures and returns. In Victorias. Boats go out and come back on a schedule set by tide and weather, not the clock — departures in the dark, returns at first light, then net-mending and repairs through the afternoon while the catch goes to the landing and the drying racks. WHAT TO DO: first light at the shore is when it’s all visible. Buying direct off the boat is normal and cheaper than the market. ACTIVITIES: some communities will take visitors out, but this is arranged person-to-person on the beach rather than through an operator — expect no safety equipment and decide accordingly. SAFETY: coastal barangays are close-knit and generally safe; the caution is sea conditions rather than people, and afternoon weather turns fast on both coasts.
