San Carlos City: Fireflies, Fishing & the Eastern Kanlaon Trailhead
Description
San Carlos serves as one of the access points to Mount Kanlaon Natural Park’s trail network (the Marabilis-area trailhead near San Carlos), and is separately known regionally for firefly-watching river cruises — a nighttime activity worth checking current local operator availability for rather than assuming a fixed schedule.
HOW TO GET THERE: On the northeast coast of Negros Occidental, reachable by coastal road/bus from Bacolod.
BEST TIME: Evening for firefly watching (dry season generally better for consistent sightings); daytime dry-season for the Kanlaon trailhead approach, subject to the same volcanic-activity access caveats as Canlaon.
