Description
Fair-trade organisation strongly linked to muscovado and farmer support in Negros Occidental. Farming outside the sugar estates is smallholder and mixed — vegetables, root crops, fruit and cacao often on the same land. Upland farms supply the lowland city markets, which is why highland towns matter far beyond their size. Roadside stalls near the farms sell at the lowest prices you’ll find.
Tips
Household and smallholder scale throughout — there are no shopfronts or visitor facilities at most of these zones. Ask at the town market or at barangay level rather than looking for signage, and carry cash in small notes.
