Manuel Severino Hofileña House
Description
Heritage house museum on Cinco de Noviembre Street, built 1934 in Art Deco and Art Nouveau styles — the first heritage house in Silay to open to the public, in 1962, three decades before any other. The owner still lives in the house. Built by Manuel Hofileña for his wife Gilda Ledesma Hojilla (a former Miss Silay) and their nine children. The real draw is the collection: one of the world’s smallest dolls, some of the oldest antiquities on Negros Island, and — on the second floor — rare artworks by Filipino masters including Juan Luna and a piece by José Rizal himself. Cameras are not allowed on the second floor to protect the artworks. Entrance around ₱60 adults, ₱30 students. Roughly 0.3km (4 min walk) from Silay Public Plaza.
