Description

Cassava and gabi farms in foothill barangays. In Sibulan, the town immediately north of Dumaguete, foothills running down to the strait. Cassava, camote, gabi and ube are the fallback staple in the uplands here — boiled as merienda, and the base of kakanin and budbud. Native siling labuyo grows in backyards rather than fields: small, fiercely hot, sold by the heap in the market.

Tips
Don"t assume Dumaguete handles all arrivals — the airport and the Cebu ferry port are both here, so build the transfer into your timing. Best treated as part of an arrival or departure day rather than a separate trip.
Stops
Dumaguete–Valencia Food Belt
How to get there
10-15 minutes by tricycle from central Dumaguete, or your first stop if arriving by air or by ferry from Cebu.
Best Times
Morning for port and fishing activity; otherwise no strong time-of-day pull.
