Veling’s Painitan

Fourth stall along the Katada Street painitan row, moving north through Dumaguete’s public market breakfast section. This is one of a cluster of family-run painitan stalls that have operated side by side here for years, each known locally by the vendor’s name rather than a shop sign. The staple order across the row is puto with tsokolate or sikwate, plus budbud, coffee, and other native snacks depending on the stall. Trading starts before sunrise, generally 3:30–4:30am, and continues into the early afternoon for most vendors. All seating is outdoor and shared — open benches under the market roof, no indoor section. Cash is the safest assumption, though QR payment options (GCash, Maya, PalawanPay) have spread to some market stalls since 2024. No wheelchair access along this row.
