Alviola’s Painitan

Northernmost stall in the Katada Street painitan row, at the far end of Dumaguete public market’s breakfast section, across the street from where the city’s night market sets up from 6pm to midnight on the same stretch — so the same block runs breakfast trade before sunrise and street food after dark. Alviola’s carries the same core painitan order as its neighbours: puto with tsokolate or sikwate, budbud, and coffee, with other native items available depending on the stall’s supply that day. Trading starts before dawn, generally 3:30–4:30am, and typically continues into early afternoon. Seating is outdoor benches only, shared across the row, with no air conditioning or indoor section. Cash is the default, though QR payment (GCash, Maya, PalawanPay) has become available at some painitan stalls since 2024. No wheelchair access.
