Natividad’s Painitan

Fifth stall in the Katada Street painitan row, close to the northern end of Dumaguete public market’s breakfast section. Like the rest of the row, it serves the standard painitan lineup — puto (steamed rice cake), tsokolate or sikwate (native hot chocolate made from tablea), budbud, and coffee, with other native snacks such as bibingka or binangkal sometimes available depending on the day. The row opens well before dawn, typically 3:30–4:30am, ahead of the general market’s morning rush, and most stalls carry on serving into early afternoon. There’s no indoor seating anywhere along this stretch — just open benches shared between neighbouring stalls. Payment is traditionally cash, with some vendors now also taking GCash, Maya, or PalawanPay QR since the market’s 2024 digital-payment rollout. No wheelchair access.
