Pulangbato Falls (Twin Falls / Malabo)

Description

One of two waterfalls in Barangay Malabo, Valencia, known locally as Twin Falls — Pulangbato (‘red rock,’ from pula/red and bato/rock) gets its rust-orange color from sulfur deposits coating the rock face, since its water originates near Mount Talinis, a potentially active volcano. Despite the sulfur, bathing is officially permitted and considered safe. About 30 feet high with a deep, sloping catch basin, popular for cliff jumping. Getting there: jeepney or multicab from Dumaguete to Valencia town (~₱12-15/person, ~20-30 min), then habal-habal to the falls (~₱200-300 round trip for two, ~15-20 min) — access road is smoother than Casaroro’s, with only a short hike required rather than several hundred steps. Entrance fee around ₱20-100 depending on source/year, plus a small parking fee. Commonly combined with Red Rock Hot Spring, which sits just 2 minutes away, and often bundled into the same day trip as Casaroro Falls and Twin Lakes.
